My Students

My students are driven, curious and getting ready for college and awesome careers. An eagerness to learn and good humor leads to energy and enjoyment most of the time, most days. All of my classes are embracing the learning of US History and Contemporary Issues through hands-on activities, discussions, debates, and group work that push them to be 21st-century workforce-ready.

My students are salt-of-the-earth individuals with a strong sense of community and a knowledge of how important education is.

If these are the people who will be leading Connecticut and America in the future, who will be solving social, political, and economic issues, then we are in good hands.

My Project

The webcam and tripod will help us to Skype and video conference with outside experts in the area of US History and Contemporary Issues. The chance to invite speakers and members of different backgrounds, perspectives, and communities to our classroom, without them actually having to physically be there, will allow us to connect with many people and groups, hopefully.

We will be trying to connect with classrooms around the USA and the world, ideally, to discuss our learning and get their perspectives on issues from the past and present.

The materials will allow us to gather in our media center, to interview and talk with people, to hear them share their insights, expertise, learning, and opinions with us.
