Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

After a long winter, my 25 students are itching to get outside. They look forward to getting outside to run and play. They have active imaginations; however, nothing to play with during recess.

I have 25 energetic Kindergrtners.

My students attend a inner-city charter school year-round with an extended-day program, Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Although 89% of the students come from low-income households, we try to provide every opportunity for them to learn and excel. Due to the long school day, it is important for my students to stretch their minds and legs during recess.

My Project

My students need a playground set, croquet set (to learn a new game), parachute, jump ropes, and hoop set. These playground activities will enrich my students social lives, build confidence, and character building. I plan to teach my students a variety of games with the balls and hoops, in addition to teaching them how to play croquet and double dutch. This playground equipment will help my students build stronger muscles and bones, have a leaner body because exercise helps control body fat, build large and fine motor skills, have a better outlook on life, and help to build relationships and a sense of community among my class and other classes.

Please help give my students something to look forward to during recess.
