Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a great group of students ranging from 9th grade to 12th grade. The majority of my students are 10th graders. Since the first day of school these kids have been eager to learn and to get in the shop and start their own projects.
A lot of these students were affected by Hurricane Harvey and most of the projects that I have seen are projects they want to build to put back into their homes.
Some of the projects include tables, dressers, entertainment centers, and desks
My Project
In my class I have the kids do a lot of blue print layouts. The graphing paper that I have on my list is a must along with the pencils and the pencil sharpener. The shop that we have, where we turn our drawings into reality, has no A/C so the 2-24" fans that I have on the list will help move the air around better which will allow us to work in the shop longer on our projects. I also have 1" binders on it so that each student will have a place to put their drawings in and be able to keep them in the classroom. I also have ear plugs and safety glasses for PPE and new saw blades to cut our lumber with.
