Even though many of my students are challenged by several economical challenges (98% low income families with 60% English as a Second Language) outside of school, when they get to school they place all those challenges aside and strive at what they do in every class including Special classes (Art) like mine.
We provide meaningful instruction and set high-expectations to promote academic success in all courses.
I have several gifted and talented students who could flourish if equipped with materials beyond your basic crayons and markers (Which is all that can be supplied through the yearly art budget) I know my students can use these materials to create things that are astonishing. I also know my students will appreciate the materials and the experiences that will help provide them with limitless creativity for the upcoming school year!
My Project
Clay is not something we can accommodate within our yearly budget, so with these materials I can share my passion of working with this medium amongst my students. I know my students will be just as excited (if not more) to work with a material that is so hands on and tactile. With the current Art budget we focus more on 2 Dimensional art and not so much 3Dimensional, the clay will support our study in the 3D forms.
The air dry clay will bring the students creativity come to life!
Students will learn to work with both 2D and 3D art forms this year with the help of this project. All kids (even adults) love to create using clay. This project will allow us to "play" in a new kind of way within the Art room!
