My Students

The world outside my art room window is in color, and my students' pottery should be, too!

I teach pottery to high school students in a small rural school district in Georgia where 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.

We work with an old kiln and dried up glazes. The school system has very limited funds for the art program. It's not that the system doesn't want to support art; the money is just not there. My students are bright and interested in pottery. We just do not have the funds to offer them the variety of experiences that I would like.

My Project

These glazes will give my students the chance to explore color in relation to ceramic work. They will learn to visualize how the texture and shine of a glaze can complete their work. They will become even more excited about the possibilities available in the ceramics classroom.

Using these materials will begin to prepare them for college art courses as they experiment with blending color and accenting the textures of their clay work.

These supplies will give my students an opportunity to express themselves more fully.

These students deserve the opportunity to bring their ideas to completion. Your donation will make this possible.
