My Students

My students are disabled preschoolers ages 3 to 5. I teach small children with Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, and developmental delays, speech impairments, and language impairments. I have a number of students who come from low income families. Also, I serve military children with deployed parents. My students have a broad range of needs such as sensory, educational, communication, physical, behavioral, social, self-care, and medical. We are about to start the second full year of our preschool disabilities program at Shalimar Elementary, and we are so excited about our future.

My Project

The variety of sensory items for special needs children and the learning resources and toys will greatly enhance learning and school experience. Chew necklaces are needed for oral stimulation. Many of the items are for calming and soothing children with special needs. Others are to meet sensory needs and will be used to create a sensory center.

We need fluorescent light filters, they will improve the learning environment for students.

The clickers will be used to track behavior. Also, included in this project are items for physical development, such as the hilltop and the bean bag set. The bean bag set also supports pre academic skill acquisition. This project would impact student learning and improve their school lives.
