Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our community is composed of low to mid income, hard working families. The scholars at this school are unique. This is a school where it is "awesome" and "cool" to be different, where being "quirky" and "weird" is a good thing. Uniqueness is celebrated and it is a wonderful thing. The students in my class are just genuinely excited to go to school and learn new things.
By having the students' supplies and materials organized, students will be able to achieve a higher level of independence and accountability.
In 5th grade, we really want students to gain the organizational skills to prepare them for life. With organization, the flow of the classroom moves more smoothy, maximizing learning time in the classroom.
My Project
This is my first full year as an elementary teacher. I am going into a classroom that is bare bones, there only are walls, desks, and tables.
I want to provide classroom essentials for my amazing students, but working in the lowest paid district in the San Francisco Bay Area makes it very challenging.
One of the fundamental skills in 5th grade is organization. We need organization to be successful in school and in life and I want to be able to provide these important tools and skills for my students.
I am requesting materials that will help us stay organized, such as mailboxes, book bags, storage centers and trays to hold all my students' wonderful work and supplies. Organization is essential for students to be successful. These items will make everything easily accessible. Clean up will be more efficient, giving the students more time to learn and work on projects.
