An Energized Ensemble That Needs New Instruments

My Students

My students are motivated and dedicated learners. They work hard, and many overcome obstacles daily that many don't face. As my school utilizes a full inclusion learning environment, my students are diverse not just socio-economically and racially, but also in learning styles and abilities.

While the students I teach may appear very different, one common bond between them is their passion for learning and new experiences.

Their desire to create and connect in their learning has motivated me to guide their learning to a higher level. They are a constant inspiration and joy to teach.

My Project

Having new guitars and tubano drums will help students daily. The Middle School Ensemble Class learns the guitar, bass or piano, and many of the guitars are in such poor condition that they cannot create the rewarding tones that they are working so hard to create. Similarly, several of the classroom drums are broken beyond repair, and not useful for students.

Giving students the opportunity to learn an instrument in school will give them the ability to make music recreationally for a lifetime.

Their learning is very self motivated, and they choose much of the music that they learn. Allowing them to continue this process with better instruments will only promote their success as young musicians.
