Band Together (Ableton Live and Bandstand Consultant)
We need guidance from a professional musician who will visit our class. Darren Kramer understands the music industry and will teach my students what it will take to produce an album from start to finish.
Our students represent the chance for our STEM School music program to promote real world approaches to teaching music. Software such as Ableton Live and Sibelius are integrated into a core curriculum as students learn piano, guitar, technology and music theory. Music for everyone!
Since our goal is a culture of learning for all students, every project is driven by our love of our school, students, staff and community.
We understand that media production is rich in artistic merit, creativity, and innovation, and has the power to transform every academic environment to a place where every student is able to see the value of learning and better identify with real-world passions, knowledge and experiences.
Honestly... after our students heard the ideas from other schools they realized how important it is to help other schools experience the artistic validation that will result from this project. To create an album for yourself became secondary to learning how to create an album for everyone.
Empowering others by sharing knowledge and skills has become their mission. I am so proud of these students.
The knowledge, skills, kindness, and generosity of our student team will certainly improve the joy of learning and lead to the very traits we call humanity.
Our students' ability to synthesize music skills and knowledge extends beyond the music classroom as they develop ways to improve their own academic success as well as directly impact the success of their piers, their teachers, school culture and the community.
STEM School music students have already composed songs for other curriculum and improved their own project based learning through high-quality audio and video production.
The real magic happens when our “Think it Up” team strengthens the ability of other students to realize their artistic dreams. The opportunity for students to learn about real-world audio and video production will serve our entire school, teachers, students, administration and community.
We want to take our approach to other school so that they also may experience how great it feels when you are valued as an artist and how your artistic drams guide your education.
The power of music is not just for the elite. It's for everyone. Let's make a difference!
In Their Own Words
Our project idea is to create an album that showcases our collective talent and summative skills that we have developed through hard work and passion. This project will enable a professional musician, Darren Kramer, to work with us so we learn all the skills necessary to produce an album.
Through the process of cutting an album and learning from those in the music industry, we will show that being a real musician does not necessarily require a prodigal mind or abundant resources.
Composed and managed entirely by students, we hope to inspire students across the county, state, and country to pursue similar goals and express them.
While our teacher will guide and mentor our musical skills, the music on the album will be entirely student-produced and performed.
This project will enable us to hire an expert in the music industry, Darren Kramer, to assist with our tech skills and ensure that our work meets industry standards as we write and produce our songs.
This project will culminate in a performance done entirely by students playing instruments, troubleshooting tech issues, and finally releasing an album.
The Next Step: Helping Other Students.
We wish to solve the issue of countless musical students being unable or unwilling to attempt creating an album. We also want to bring down the illusion of needing to be famous, rich, or a genius in order to be a successful musician. We shall show our community that you needn't be any of those things.
With the right outlet and guidance, anyone who truly wants to be a musician can achieve their dream and even be successful.

Darren Kramer
(Darren Kramer will allow us to produce music at industry standards and will be able to represent Ableton and its products whilst guiding students at the level of quality needed in the business of making music. He will guide us through what we must know in order to release a CD from start to finish. )
