I teach the 6th grade at an inner city school. Our school is small, but our kids are filled with tons of pride. Even though they all receive free breakfast and lunch, they try not to let a lack of resources get them down. As a teacher, I will try to do whatever it takes to make sure my kids have everything they need. This, however, is not always possible.
Currently, our classroom needs two of the most basic supplies: paper and pencils. Teachers are given two cases of paper to get them through an entire school year. That averages out to about one document per day. There are often times when I make 5 copies of something and have students copy them onto scrap paper or notebook paper, when I am running low.
My students also need pencils. The pencils that they buy for the beginning of the school year last about 1 month. After that, they will scavenge to find whatever might make a mark on a paper. Now that we have reached springtime, even the students who are reliable with supplies often run out.
My students need the ability to have their own copies of graphic organizers without worrying about the amount of paper we have for the month. They have also reached a time of year when finding a pencil isn't as easy as reaching at the bottom of their schoolbags. They have simply run out.
Your donation of copy paper and pencils will ensure my students to complete the rest of the year with success. They cannot believe that people are out there that are willing to help them! It makes them feel so special.
Thank you, in advance, for any donation you can make to any teacher. It really means a lot to all of us!
