I am a NEW teacher going to teach special education in a two-way immersion school in the Saint Paul Public Schools in the primary grades. I did my student resident teaching at this school and come to love the school, the students, and staffs very much. The students are wonderful to work with and I can not wait to be a culturally responsive teacher this year. The students learn Hmong for 80% of their day in kindergarten to 2nd grade, then 50% after that to 5th grade. As the students learn English, there are limited books to support them as they progress. I would like to provide them books at their level to help them be at grade level. A leveled library will allow them to comprehend and build their vocabulary.
