These materials will make a difference in my students' learning because they need and deserve relevant, captivating, effective literature in their lives. This class set of Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry will enable all my students to actively participate as we read and analyze the novel. This book is the centerpiece of our American Literature unit: A Moral Compass. This study unit supports their Common Core State Standards for reading, writing, and discussion. This study unit also invites students to draw meaningful connections to segregation in past and current events through literature and informational texts, while also broadening their perspectives in social-emotional learning.
