My students struggle with reading fluency, and all too often they are not read to at home. While my students must find ways to overcome their home situations, finding ways to provide them with strong learning experiences is a job that I take very seriously. I am requesting two iPod Touches with earphone splitters in order to provide my students with consistent, fluent, modeling of books that are engaging and interactive. Providing my students with the tools necessary to overcome their situations is a huge challenge that can be helped through this project's success. The materials provided by this project will be used to create listening stations where 2-5 students can join in a shared listening experience. Students will first listen to stories of their choosing while they read along in a physical copy. Students will then work together and independently to complete comprehension activities that are designed to increase their reading skills.
