My school is beautiful. The students consist of every possible colors, shape, and size. Their backgrounds are a cornucopia or languages, religions, customs, and culture. My classroom is a family of diversity. But the truth is many of my students come from places of poverty and disillusionment. We as teachers, are their hub of safety and comfort. My students prevail. My school is a part of a nationally recognized AP District of the Year, one of Arizona's top ten school districts; we are an A-rated, A+ School of Excellence and a Beat the Odds Success School; our students participate in Honors classes, academic integration programs, and a plethora of amazing clubs, including the world's largest Interact club, a community service organization. Moreover, students commit to a program marked by high academic standards. I could not be more proud of where I work and where my students are going, regardless of where they came from.
