My students live in a very rural area where a lot of their family members work in the fields making below the poverty level. Although most students have financial trouble at home, it does not reflect in their work ethic. I don't think that I have worked with students with so much drive and politeness. They understand that in order to go somewhere, they have to get an education. Most of my students start my program with no music training and a lot of them are surprised that they actually have musical talent. My school also has a lot of pride in the fact that they keep students off the streets, and keeping them involved in school.
