Since we read stories throughout the year and students create stories, these classroom tools are going to helpful for a long time. \r\n\r\nStudents started using the magnetic strips and whiteboard markers this past week to participate in whole class activities. It allowed our class to move smoothly and provided an opportunity for more students to participate. They didn't have to wait for one person to finish writing on the board or be nervous about standing there. Students were excited to use these underglazes right away. Students created beautiful patterns and designs on their wheel thrown pots. \r\n\r\nUnderglazes give students great control over the colors they choose, and the designs they create. They are a powerful tool for students to express their ideas, narratives, or personal stories through their pots. They can use the colors and designs to convey emotions or communicate themes in their artwork.\r\n\r\nLater this fall, students will create a series of projects that communicate ideas through symbolism. These underglazes will play a huge role in helping students to express their ideas clearly and colorfully. My students were so excited to see the new glaze colors we received thanks to your generous contribution. \r\n\r\nDonors Choose makes it possible for us to expand our glaze offerings and have new and exciting colors for students to use. Students immediately experimented with these colors on their coil pots. They even found combinations by layering glazes to produce different colors and finishes. \r\n\r\nWe look forward to using these wonderful glazes on future projects this year! Potters Choice glazes are brushed on while most of our glaze offerings are dipped. He shared that having music in the background helps him concentrate and feel calm. The cooler is now built into our reward system, where students earn time to refill their water bottles after completing assignments or showing positive behavior.
