I love the community that clay creates! It encourages my students to work together, to help out, and to participate in a shared society where everyone has something to contribute. My vision of offering a Ceramics class to my high school students in the Fall of 2022 is to teach how visual art enriches the lives of their local community. We will partner with the local food pantry by hosting our first ever, Empty Bowls Fundraiser Event with pottery bowls that my students have made. The purchase of this kiln is a long-term investment that will enable my students to take Ceramics/Pottery classes for at least the next 15-20 years to come. My students will fundraise for the additional costs related to the kiln accessories and glazes by practicing marketing and selling their pottery to customers. Receiving a ceramics kiln will allow my students to create artworks that they can submit to art competitions and create functional pottery that they can use in their daily lives.
