My students come from very low socio-economic backgrounds. School is one of the only consistent things in their life. With a high population of English language learners and students that have already attended 4-5 schools by 3rd grade, many of my students are below grade level in both reading and math. They are hard workers and are determined to leave my class reading on a 4th grade level.
