My students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds and 80% of our student population is considered socioeconomically disadvantaged. Our student diversity by percentage is, Black 73%, Hispanic 17%, White 6%, Asian 2%, American Indian/Alaska Native 1%, and Filipino <1%. What makes my students special is that they are very musical, highly creative, and motivated. They approach music with enthusiasm and tell me that they enjoy my classes.
