This year is an election year, so we will be taking advantage of that exciting event. All of the items in my cart will be used to promote further knowledge of the election process. My students and I will read the novel "President of the Whole Fifth Grade" so that they can look at an example of how elections could work at the school level while engaging in literacy. The paper I ordered will be used to have a mock presidential election in my classroom so that my students can learn about the voting process. We will need the paper so that the students can make posters and ballots and anything else that their election requires. The Scholastic News subscription will be used to help students learn about current events and study the events surrounding the US presidential election. Moreover, I find that it is difficult to find social studies resources, so the Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards will be used as a supplement and assess social studies concepts.
