Unfortunately, the computer software in our school is outdated. Microsoft Surface Pro supports software like translate.it. The program detects the speaker's voice during classroom discussion and displays the translation in a wide range of languages up on our smart board. As a result, English Learners can begin to immerse themselves into the discussion at hand and most importantly, feel that their home language is valued in the classroom environment. In addition, there is software that provides real time translation between individuals who speak different languages. This can be a critical tool when sitting down with parents or guardians of our English Learners who do not speak English to discuss the progress of their child; once again placing an emphasis on embracing the rich culture that our English Learners and their family bring to our community.
