In order to be able to perform any mariachi music, it is essential that we have the right instruments to play. A traditional mariachi ensemble is compromised of violins, trumpets, a guitar, a guitarron, and a vihuela. Because we already have an orchestra and band program at our school, we don't need to purchase violins or trumpets. That leaves us with raising money for a guitar, a guitarron, and a vihuela. The instruments I have selected are a good combination of high-quality and durable designs that are perfect for beginner players at the middle school level. These new instruments will help us successfully put together a mariachi ensemble that can produce an authentic sound and give students the opportunity to appreciate and experience Mexican culture.
