I am a school social worker serving over 700 students, providing counseling and support to help kids manage their emotions, build their social skills, improve behavior, and overcome trauma. For some kids, all they need is a stress ball or fidget tool once in a while, and others need ongoing counseling. We work to meet kids where they are and help them grow from there. Being vulnerable and working through trauma can be scary, but these materials will help kids express themselves in their own ways. Games and toys also create a safe and comfortable space to allow students to talk to me and one another. Fidgets, stress balls, and hula chairs allow students to select and use tools that will help them manage big feelings and focus better in class. These tools empower students to express their needs and find their own solutions.
