This project will fund enough prefix and suffix word building tiles for each teacher at our school in grades 3-5 to use during small group instruction. In addition, the 12 classrooms in grades 3-5 will each receive magnetic word builder sets for use during instruction as well as during literacy rotations. Being able to accurately read words, especially words with multiple syllables, is one of the first steps to helping our students build their vocabulary and become even better readers. Through the use of these manipulatives during word work instruction, students will develop a better understanding of how words work and how word parts can be combined to form new words. Once they are able to accurately decode more words, our students will improve quickly in their reading and their language development will take off as well!
