My students will use these items to do center work and practice their math skills. The math manipulatives will be used by the students to help them gain a concrete understanding of each 2nd grade math skill I teach. For instance, students can manipulate the magnetic clock to show the that I ask them to make. They can use the coins to show me different ways to make the same amount. The dice can be used in many different ways from probability to just rolling it to choose a math fact in Roll, Say, Keep. Students will be able to break and make fractions. They will be able to see the 3D Shapes that they are learning about. Students learn better if they can touch the math with their hands.
These manipulatives will help my students to become better math scholars. They will provide a concrete way for students to practice their skills that is not in the traditional paper/pencil way.
By funding this project you will not only reach 26 students today buy 26 students every year I teach Math. These will go a long way to help students have a better math and number sense.
Please help these kids get the math manipulatives they need.
