Students in the Westglades Band Hall learn the discipline of making music through Autonomy, Mastery, and Purpose. The students are taught to independently learn music within certain parameters. They are constantly assessed on Mastery of the content, rather than receiving a percentage-based grade. It is our goal for every student in our band room to feel purpose through being an important aspect of the group. The students need a lot of equipment, instrument repairs, and new percussion instruments. Both of our band directors have the honor of presenting on Autonomy, Mastery, and Purpose in the music curriculum at the National Association for Music Education conference in Dallas, Texas this year. We're very excited to be at Westglades, but have a lot of funds that are needed for the year!

About my class
