Research has shown that flexible seating engages students in learning more effectively than traditional seating. I am finally ready to embark on this journey with my fifth grade classroom. During independent work time, students will choose an area and seating method in the classroom to do their work. Students who are comfortable will be more motivated learners. Students are more engaged in their work and when given a choice, will be able to show responsibility and be less disruptive during work time. I would like to equip my classroom with floor cushions, lap desks, chair balls, stools, and a couple of new tables that I will lower so students can become more engaged in learning. I have researched and picked these items because I feel they will work best in my classroom.
