I have a project that I am using to increase the reading scores of my students. I have challenged my students to read 2 accelerated reading books and pass the A/R test each month, in hopes of increasing their lexile reading scores. We have started the year off rather slowly. Most students are not reaching their stretch goals. In order to increase student engagement and buy in, I would like to offer a popcorn party to students who reach their goals. I have tried to make this work with my very small air popper, but it simple does not pop fast enough and the quantities are too small. If I had a bigger air popper, we could enjoy more popcorn as we read.
