Schools have been given the charge to provide students with the skills needed to master academic content, however soft skills such as emotional regulation and empathy have been left out of the conversation. As you can see the consequences for poor emotional regulation can be devastating. Just look at the evening news, and someone has been injured (or worse) as a result of an argument and lack of conflict resolution skills. Your donation to my project will allow me to work with my students and help them fully engage in their learning and provide them with the social and emotional skills needed to compete in the 21st-century. The items I am requesting will help me provide students with resources so that classroom distractions are minimized, cooperative and safe interactions will be increased, and critical teaching and learning time no longer have to be sacrificed to deal with problem behaviors. Furthermore, your investment in the emotional health of children will surely lead to academic gains. Your donation ensures that my students have the skills needed to set goals, creatively solve their problems, and safely and effectively resolve their conflicts with others.
