I teach an amazing and enthusiastic group of first graders at a Title 1 school. Many of my students are on free and reduced lunch and don't have the necessary resources at home to help meet their educational needs. Some of them receive a bag of food on Friday to take home and guarantee they don't go hungry over the weekend. Their "I Can" attitudes are contagious, and they put forth their best effort to show the world what perseverance and a positive attitude can do to reach their goals and be successful. My classroom is a welcoming environment where students are free to move around and make choices to meet their learning needs. My room is set up to enable students to rotate through reading, writing, and math centers. These centers meet all learning styles and are diversified to meet the academic needs of my students and help them feel successful in school.
