My project is to create an environment with open ended materials. These materials should be easily assessable to the students and can be used in a variety of ways. These materials support problem solving, higher level thinking and encourage symbolic play. My child centered classroom is a place where the children make decisions, solve problems and gain a sense of independence. Adding meaningful and intentional materials to the environment will enhance and encourage students to continue asking questions and learn through real life experiences. I strive to give each child in my classroom a high quality, meaningful pre-k experience and it is clear that adding open ended materials to my classroom environment will help in achieving that goal.
