Time for Kids is an important component of 5th grade curriculum. Students have more presence on the internet and have access to more news and information than ever before. It is important that students have resources that lead them to appropriate news and events from around the world. This also increases their awareness of the world they live in. It helps students think outside of their school, or home or community and think of themselves as global citizens. Time for Kids Around the World helps teach about what life is life for kids from other countries! We live in a community that has no roads in or out of town. You must take a ferry boat or airplane to travel anywhere else. I have several students that have never left Juneau, let alone Alaska. This gives them inspiration to explore and see the rest of the world when they grow!
