My classroom is about inclusion, collaboration, and teaching to the whole child. I promote a light hearted atmosphere where students feel safe. They are encouraged to be themselves as they work toward their learning goals. We work as a group to build each other up, and each student has their interests/career goals in mind. My students are empowered to self manage their learning; teaching them skills they will utilize as they move into high school, college, and their career. Each year we come up with a classroom vision and code. A common vision theme we have developed typically sounds like: Our goal is to get an education, so we can be prepared for the future, and provide for myself and my family. My success will make me feel proud and accomplished, and my participation in arts will allow me to have an open mind and a positive mindset.
