My students are always more engaged and excited about different sports that are not popular in our surrounding areas. Also learning and practicing new sports give students the opportunity to put everyone (even the athletes) on the same skill level and help build their confidence. I teach a variety of students that come from all different types of backgrounds. Most students that I teach are on free and reduced lunch program and our school receives Title 1 funding in order to provide more assistance to impoverished children. However, I have an energetic and active group of students willing to try new ways to move their bodies and increase their learning through cooperative activities. Research shoes that movement helps our children learn and therefore my goal is to provide the best and positive atmosphere for my students to be active and learn different motor and manipulative skills to help them be successful.
