The students in my classroom are all in different spots on their reading journey. With students of many different backgrounds, I have 20 readers that vary in their reading levels. They range from non-readers to readers at a 2nd grade reading level. In order to meet the needs of ALL readers in my classroom, a leveled library would encompass a wide range of book levels to allow for differentiation. Students can get easily frustrated when they're given a book that is too difficult for them, or often times they're bored if given a book that is too easy. With a brand new set of leveled books, these students could fill their book bins with books at their appropriate reading level to encourage them to LOVE reading without frustration or boredom! Since most of these students don't have books at home, it is important that they are given the appropriate resources at school to reach their fullest potential.
