These alternative seating options as well as modifications for our current seating will help scholars explore and create in my classroom. This is my first year teaching and I am wanting to create a space for all scholars to feel welcomed and open to utilize the classroom as a tool for learning. Alternative seating helps students focus, gives them a choice and control of their environment, promotes physical health through movement and builds collaborative spaces. Imagine a classroom where you get to wiggle and move as a young learner but still focus on the lesson at hand. Reading while (safely) wobbling on a chair, being able to move your feet while writing a story, and so much more. Funding this project means that this classroom becomes a reality for the entire second grade at Promise Academy Hollywood.
