Many students in the art class make art, present it, critique and display it. But not until college did I ever learn to measure, cut and mount my art to a board to be displayed for others. It was always taped up to the hallways, with ripped pieces by students walking by and book bags hitting it. Our students deserve to see their hard work, creativity and identity-focused and socially minded art displayed with pride and respect. The rest of the students will, in turn, will give respect and thoughtfulness to the work. With materials like mounting board, adhesives, and X-Acto knives, our students can get experience learning how to display their art and allow the rest of the school community the benefit of having a school full of meaningful and well-displayed art.
