Research shows that when students have some sort of choice in their learning environment, they are more likely to thrive in it and retain more information. With these flexible seating options, it will give my students the power to choose their own quiet place to work and be successful.
"With great power comes great responsibility" (Spider-Man)--not only will they have choices, but they will also have great lessons on responsibility and making good choices for themselves that will last them a lifetime. With these resources, my students will be able to pick their seat of choice during work time. Research shows that when students have the choice of where they seat, they typically work better. Some students rather stand, some rather lay on the floor, some rather bounce up and down... This will give them all the tools necessary to not be distracted by their seats! I will still have traditional seating options to fit the needs of all my students. This will increase their productivity and hopefully their retention of information!
