Being the math interventionist for 5th and 6th graders at my school, I see many different students throughout the day. They come to me for extra support with the math curriculum from a variety of teachers. Everyday they face academic challenges, many of them are in the process of being identified as special education students or have already been identified. However they all come to me as hard-working individuals, who have a desire to be the best math students that they can be. These students who visit my little room for a small portion of their day, love to learn, try new strategies, and grow as mathematicians. Because math is a little harder for them, it's important to draw them in and engage them at all times. Introducing my students to new and innovative instructional methods and materials keeps their interest by making learning an exciting and new adventure!
