Basic Essentials for the Classroom
Funded Jan 24, 2020Thank you so much for this generous gift to my classroom. With your help, my students received two new pencil sharpeners, which is so instrumental in my class. My classroom is right across the hall from a math class, so students (even students I do not have) come in to sharpen their pencils before class starts. In addition, with such a horrible flu and cold season, the hand sanitizer allows students to clean their hands and ensure they are not spreading germs. I have tissues easily accessible in every corner of the room. There's not a day that goes by that a student does not need a tissue. They do not have to go far to get this comfort. The colored markers really brighten up all homework assignments, projects, one-pagers, and black out poems. The students are so happy to have almost every color marker to use to bring their creations to life. I am so beyond blessed that you all support my students and allow them to be successful.”

Funded Oct 26, 2019As soon as the Manga books came, my students have been EATING THEM UP! My students take a book, read it in one night, and come back for another book. They are speeding through these comics. Throughout the halls, you will see students carrying these books to every class. I need to purchase more!! Thank you so very much for this gift, as it is encouraging more and more students to read, as they see how interested my other students are. In addition, students are able to have rich discussions and are even bringing the books to Anime club. My students can't believe how fast I got this project funded and truly are so fortunate for each and every one of you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We appreciate you all so much.”

Mirrors for My Students: One Novel at a Time
Funded Aug 7, 2019I want to express my sincere gratitude for making this project possible. Many of my students have explained that they came from schools that had old and outdated books. They did not want to explore new book titles because of the condition of the books. You have all made it possible for me to instill my love of reading into my students' lives. This project is all about allowing students to browse through the books, learning about them through book talks I will be giving (until students can give one themselves) and book tastings. During a book tasting, students will browse the room and scan the different novels on the tables. They will be exposed to many diverse novels and issues in our society. In addition, students will eventually participate in First Chapter Fridays, where they will read the first chapter of their selected book aloud to the class. This will encourage more students to find the book they enjoy reading.
In addition, many of my students are finding a new love of reading simply because of the diverse books that were donated through this project. Not only are they relatable, but they can see themselves through the characters. It is so important that students are reading books with protagonists that look like them. We are all thrilled to have these books in our classroom library and I so excited for them to explore all of these novels!”

Funded May 27, 2019Thank you so very much for your donation to my classroom. Knowing I can provide basic supplies to my students such as pens, pencils, markers, and tissues, truly ensures students do not have to come to school empty handed. Through Donors Choose, you provided the necessary materials for students to succeed. Students can come into class and not have to worry about not having a pen or pencil or falling behind.
In addition, tissues are instrumental as students do not have to leave the classroom or miss classroom instruction to blow their nose or clean up a spill. Students who are in need of comfort know they do not have to stress over anything thanks to you. The Clorox wipes are a major necessity in my classroom as I wipe the desks down every morning to ensure they are clean and graffiti free. Students have complimented my room, explaining that it smells clean and the room is welcoming to them. The Crayola markers allow students to express themselves through color, using images and words, which brighten up the page. Students also use the color pens to organize their notes and jot down important information.
It is through your generosity that my classroom is a home and comfort to my students. I take pride in keeping a clean, organized, and fully stocked classroom, which any student, no matter if they have my class or not, can come in and take what they need. I thank you from the bottom of my heart and appreciate all that you are doing for teachers like me!”
