Simply put, more instruments equals smaller groups and more time a student has an instrument in their hand. More ukuleles will drastically improve contact time and boost the amount of students that can join instrument club. I can only allow as many students in the club as I have instruments in order to keep students learning non-stop. A diversified education starts with diversified materials. Xylophone only represents a small cultural corner of the music world. Students with roots in Africa, Mexico, Asia or the islands rarely get exposure to their own culture in the general classroom. Ukulele and Boomwhackers are a step in the right direction.
