I teach high school students with special needs. The educational focus is on developing Independent Living and Pre-Employment Transition Skills. Most of the students in my classroom are nonverbal and do not have the ability to read, write, or navigate a computer independently. Many people only see the disabilities of these students. However, I recognize and celebrate their abilities. These students are able to learn and do more than many of them had realized before they became a member of my classroom. Parent are an important of the team that supports the learning and skill acquisition of these students.
