Hello! I am an outreach teacher at the Howard B. Owens Science Center, part of a large urban district. We are one of the only science centers that are part of a school district, and it is SO important to our kiddos in particular. Our population is about 90% African American and Latinx, which are extremely underrepresented in STEM and Science fields. Our Science Center provides the spark for students to continue in this field, and create an experience for them to remember. We have various classroom programs, as well as a Challenger Learning Center and Planetarium. I love being able to share my passion for science with many students per day, and also do so with teachers and the community during professional developments and science nights. I currently run a K-2 program where students are astronauts in training. Thank you for supporting, and helping to create a much needed STEM pipeline within our district!
