These students hail from the heart of Camden, NJ and are the hardest working, most compassionate students I have ever met. Just by looking at their bright faces and crisp uniforms you would never know that they come from such a rough neighborhood. They are sweet, caring, and love to learn. Every day I am greeted with exciting stories about books they read last night, or a connection they made to something we are learning in class. "Miss there is a road runner in my book! Just like the story we were reading!" was the story I heard this morning before we even entered the classroom. "Miss I'm in the 100 club!!!" another student yelled, referring to their number of 15-minute reading steps. Their love for learning does not stop with reading. Math, science, social studies, art, music, PE - they love it all. Children are often described as sponges. This is especially true for this group of amazing individuals.
