Encouraging my students to be excited to learn mathematics and be able to apply it within the real world is my goal each day. The learning centers that I am requesting will give students those hands-on/visual tools they need to assist in learning to solve mathematics concepts of fractions, understanding place value and basic operations. The supplemental toolbox of materials I will incorporate in my new math learning centers include a Complete Early Math Instant Learning Kit for grades K-5 (counting,comparing numbers, making base ten, edition, subtraction, pattern, shapes and measurements). Each kit included enough materials for four student to utilize at a time. A complete set of Math Folder Games for grades 2-3 ( a kit with place value, time/money, operations and measurement). A complete kit addition/subtraction/multiplication/division Hands-On Regrouping for grades K-5, the reading series Math Start Stories for grades 1-3, and the Part-Whole Fractions Cards to enrich students mathematics skills. The basic mathematics skills that my students struggle retaining will be available to them in easy to access centers. My students level of achievement in learning math concepts and their abilities to apply these skills in daily life is directly related to the educational experience that I provide for them within my classroom. Having standard based, data driven material to utilize will increase their educational outcome.
