The dual language program in Holyoke opened for the first time last year while these students were in kindergarten. They are the first class in the city of Holyoke to be in a dual language program. Their first year proved to be a successful one with all students reading at or above grade level by the end of the year in Spanish and English! This year I had the privilege to be their Spanish teacher. As the year progressed, I noticed the need for more Spanish books, intervention programs and materials that promote reading fluency, comprehension and enrichment in the classroom. Along with these books and programs like Read Naturally Live (on my wish list) I need your assistance in creating a comfy reading nook for our amazing first graders! Please consider helping us!
