My students work hard everyday to achieve their potential. As a speech-language pathologist servicing 6th-8th grade students with various disabilities, including Down's syndrome and autism spectrum disorder, I have seen first hand the lengths my students will go to make us educators proud every day. They are vital members of our community who make coming to work every day a joy. As educators, we have implement various teaching techniques in order to enhance each students' unique learning experience. We focus our teaching points on both academic and vocational skills by providing various related services and small classroom size instruction. The students on my case load have various communication abilities. Some cannot communicate verbally; however, they find their own unique ways to communicate. They use gestures, picture symbols, and various devices from low-tech to high tech.
