The materials and supplies that I am requesting will be used for 3 art projects. 6th graders will use oil pastels to design ceiling tiles inspired by street artist, Chris Uphues. 8th graders will use the ceramic glazes for mugs they’ll create and drink out of. 8th graders will use the dowels and yarn to create Jay Mohler‘s Ojos de Dios or “God’s Eye” mandalas. These projects will help my students grow by giving them the chance to express their creativity, develop confidence, increase their empathy and discover how to look at the world from different perspectives. All these skills help prepare students to take on the world with passion and creativity. Don’t worry. My seventh graders are painting and currently have enough supplies.
