My students are from a large, diverse community that welcomes families from all over the globe. They bring a special blend of linguistic diversity, background knowledge, prior experiences and culture to our school. Our school has a Greek Program which is taught immersion style. Our students don't focus solely on the language however, focus is also placed on Greek culture, including foods, dancing and music. I have twenty students in my classroom who come from India, Pakistan, Russia, Greece, and Lebanon. Language barriers prevent many of my students from the ability to learn online. Many depend on worksheet packets and whatever books they have at home. Despite the hardships they are facing with school being closed, they are eager learners.
