Reading can be a daunting task for struggling readers. For proficient and excelling readers sharing their knowledge with others becomes an empowering experience that drives future success forward. We have partnered with a Kindergarten class in a reading buddy program that addresses both of these areas. The 3rd graders are gaining reading fluency and a love for books as they read aloud to their little buddy. Kindergartners learn to love the world of reading with their big buddy while learning that they are becoming part of the literary world - a match made in heaven! We would like to have a larger number of books to share with our little buddies. We find ourselves reading the same titles over and over again which could be counter productive to our goals! Having new books to choose from will help us to stay engaged in our reading experience!
